I have had several chances to play with the IRT-2X so far, as it popped up in stores several days before it got to Amazon. From what I have heard it will be available in 4 colors, including a Blue color, a Purplish color, along with the original Green and Orange colors of the Deluxes. Of course, all the guns will still have the Blaze Orange tips for safety reasons. Now on to the fun stuff...

Fun: The IRT-2X adds tons of fun to the game of Lazer Tag Team Ops. It includes 4 new programmed in games, including 1 game where a single player can confront up to 8 (or 16 if you cheat a bit) players all with the single goal of defeating him or her. The other 3 games that are new on these guns are also quite fun. These games use 1 IRT-2X tagger as a "Zone" and every 10 times a player is hit, they will need to find and enter the zone in order to reactivate their guns and continue playing. You can choose how many "lives" the players have before the game begins. This mode reminds me a lot of indoor laser tag arenas, only without the excessive pricing for a few minutes of play time. All of these games are great fun, but heres the really great thing about them: As long as you have 1 IRT-2X, even if all the rest of your guns are the older "Deluxe" model, they will still be able to play these new games. All of the LTTO products will take advantage of this backwards compatibility (Think PS2 being able to run PS1 games if you don't know what backwards compatibility is) Another great addition to these taggers is that you can "Dual" them, so 1 person can have 2 taggers. With 2 taggers a player can send more tags at his or her opponents, but to balance things out, each tagger gets half of the total hit points, and of course sometimes both will be hit by 1 shot from an opponent.

Education: The new taggers have some differences that will make team play and strategy into even more of a brain heavy activity. The new taggers do not have MegaTags or Medic Mode, so the players with these taggers will not be able to regain health during the course of a game. The lack of MegaTags isn't as big a deal as you might think, though. The taggers fire rapid 3 shot bursts, and their overall rate of fire is somewhat faster than the deluxes, so they are, again, on a level playing field. In fact, it seems that LTTO is all about fair play with the introduction of this new tagger. And when you can't cheat, you have to think harder to figure out how to come out victorious.

Durability: I don't have much to say here, but just like the Deluxe model, this tagger is built tough. Also, though I'm not sure this would fit into this category, since it is the closest, I will put it here anyway. These taggers can only be turned on with the trigger, so you don't have to worry quite so much about the batteries draining while you transport them to your game location. Finally, these taggers are a little more friendly to large hands, so if you are a parent who wants to play with his/her kids, this tagger will probably better suit you. Of course, it will also be good if, like me, you play in groups that mostly include adults.

Overall, I really love this tagger just as much as the Deluxe. It has it's own pros and cons in the overall tag game, but it is very well balanced despite these differences. I think every group that plays LTTO would benefit from picking up a couple of these taggers, because of the added game modes, and also the ability to use 2 taggers at once. In closing, if anyone wants more info, just do a search for lazer tag on google and look for a message board. I and all the other LTTO enthusiasts try to check all the existing boards frequently so that we can help out those of you that are new to the Lazer Tag scene. And remember, Lazer Tag is about fun, so don't get too wrapped up in disputes about how each person plays, just enjoy the game!

Lazer Tag Team Ops IRT-2X Tagger (Orange) Review by Antony Wormack "look behind you" (San Antonio,Texas)

This handheld version of the delux tagger is a great addition to the lazer tag brand of products. The interface is simpler than the original version was. We at San Antonio outdoor laser adventures have just recently purchased 12 of these for our club, we are very happpy with them. The range is excellent and the quality of the gun is very high. Has most of the same features except now you can dual weild these (Halo 2 style) they work together as 1 unit in hosted games. Although I should note that despite the colorful shell and catchy box, this product line as a whole is not intended for children under the age of 12 or 13 if you purchase these for very young children they willspend more time frustrated with them than anything else. However if you want a real arena style laser tag experience, and like a multitude of functions than this is the system 4 you.
It Should also be noted that these do not come with the HUD.

Lazer Tag Team Ops IRT-2X Tagger (Orange) Review by Vincent Esposito "Poker& anything else thats ... (hell)

Hi, and I loved lazer tag, I have the deluxe, and i find the deluxe better. its pros are its burst 3-shot (no overheatage),
better sights than the deluxe, and u can dual wield them, too. The 3 burst shot ,since u can't megatag, replaces the megatag. The sights on this are good, too. As for the deluxes, well the scope was needed to actually hit from 75ft+, but this blaster has sights a little worse than the scope; it improves ur accuracy by 25% for the IRT-2X(aka the drone). The scope is a must-have for the deluxe, but it only at its least reccomendations for the drone. So, if ur looking for a budget gun, of if u like this gun better buy it!!!
P.S.- Its not a bad gun. really. I just like the deluxe better, while ppl like this better
